Marcy's Wedding

I attended a good friend's wedding back in April. Other than getting pulled over during that trip, which you can read about here, I had a blast with Marcy. I was a part of her wedding, which made it that much more special, and I am looking forward to having Marcy come visit in September for my 30th birthday celebration.
Marcy is the second over from the left in the black and white.

Water World

I've gotten a tad behind on blogging (and pictures), so I'll start at the beginning of my summer and work my way through.

I started out the summer at Water World with Britt and Amber. We had a blast, we hit the park early enough in the season that there were barely any lines, and we missed any afternoon storms. If you live in Denver, you have to go to Water World at least once a summer. It's a blast, and we made sure to do every single crazy ride.

July 4, 2010

Here are some pictures from the Fourth of July weekend in Glenwood Springs/Aspen. We rode down McClure Pass, and no one got hurt!

Corinne had to join the climbing. She's a tough cookie!

Siahna's first camping experience!

When you have to go, you have to go!

Carson and Kye climbed down into an ice cave. They had a blast.

When you go camping, you must bring your tutu, duh!

Betty Shiloh

What I do now that I don't have internet...

I'm still figuring out my new oven (obviously). They got a tad burnt, but they still tasted delicious. The pie was gone within a day (and no, I didn't eat it all by myself).

Letters in the Mail

Four reasons why Jefferson County School District is broke: I got the exact same letter FOUR TIMES on the same day!

Corinne's Ordeal

Over the Fourth, the Nichols/Anderson clan headed west to Glenwood Springs for some camping, bike riding and four-wheeling. Collin and Katie packed their three kids in the car; Shan and Jeff packed their two kids and me in their car.

Saturday morning, Jeff and Collin took the boys to the pool. Shan, Katie and I took the girls to Target. After swimming and shopping, we made sandwiches for lunch and then started packing up the cars to meet mom and dad at the camp grounds (about 3o minutes away). Katie put the keys in her purse, and then set the purse in the car so she could help load up.
Somehow amidst all the chaos, the car doors were shut...and locked. We don't know who or how or when, but someone hit the lock button. And yes, the keys were inside.
Realizing this, Collin walked away to release some of his steam, telling Katie to find a number for a locksmith. As we stood there trying to think of our best option to get the door unlocked, we realized that Corinne was missing. Carson, Kye and Case were all present in the lot, but Corinne was nowhere to be found. We frantically start scanning the parking lot to make sure she hadn't wandered away. It dawns on me that perhaps she's in the car.

We ran to the car to peer in, and sure enough, Corinne is sitting in her car seat. Now we're really in a panic. Jeff immediately pulls out his phone and searches for a locksmith. Katie starts knocking on the window, trying to get Corinne to hit the unlock button. Jeff gets a locksmith on the phone, telling him about our "little" emergency. The locksmith assures Jeff that he can be there within five minutes. At this point, it's around 1 p.m., and the heat is quickly rising. It's at least 90 degrees, and we can tell that Corinne is starting to get hot. She has sweat running down her face, her cheeks are turning red, and her curly hair is starting to get REALLY curly.

Sure enough, the locksmith arrived with five minutes. He was an older man (at least 70), and he wasn't a quick mover, but we were thankful to have him present. As he slowly got his materials out of his van, Katie and I tried to entice Corinne into unlocking the doors.

Poor, sweet Corinne tried her hardest to get that lock undone. She was pulling with all her might, but she just didn't have the strength to pull it up. We then tried Plan B, which was to get her to crawl into the front seat and try to hit the button. She followed instructions and climbed into the front seat. She even put her finger on the unlock button, but she didn't understand that she had to push the button. For over 20 minutes, she climbed back and forth between all the doors trying to undo the locks. She didn't cry once.

In the meantime, the locksmith couldn't get the door unlocked. After at least 10 minutes of fiddling with the door, he goes, "Well, I guess I'll have to try Plan B." He slowly walked back to his car to figure out Plan B.
Corinne found a water bottle on the floor, so she was trying to drink some water. The poor girl was sweating and bright red. All she wanted was some water, but she couldn't get the lid off the bottle.

Plan B took a while to get the lock undone. We were starting to get to the point where we were considering breaking a window. Had it taken the locksmith another few minutes more and a window would have been shattered. However, the lock was finally unlocked. We all breathed a giant sigh of relief as Corinne crawled into Katie's arms. I offered my water to Corinne, and she drank from it for a full five minutes. She didn't cry once through the entire ordeal, and she acted as if nothing had happened. Even the locksmith was impressed at her calm demeanor. He said more kids would have been screaming. Katie paid the locksmith, and we all hugged Corinne. THANK GOD she was OK.

Moving Day

Hey! It's me.... I don't have a lot of time right now, and I have a million pictures to share with you, but for the time being, I just wanted to say hello.

I moved this past weekend (thanks to those who helped-it's greatly appreciated). Rob, Austin, Lisa, and Britt arrived around 9am. Shannon helped as much as she could with two little ones in tow. Melissa and Michelle got there around 11. That group (except for Britt and Lisa) left around 1pm, and my brother then showed up around 2 to help out for the rest of the afternoon. Jeff even came home for lunch to help get my mattress up the stairs (which caused a little bit of damage, so I'll be getting out my home repair kit later this week).

My place is starting to come together, and it is going to be so cute when it's all said and done. Friday was a looooong day. I started moving at 7am, and I didn't finish until 5pm. I took a small break and took my nephews to the pool, and then I showered and headed downtown with Britt and her friend, Rich. We had dinner at Lime and then went to Double Daughters, a swanky bar downtown.

Britt stayed the night with me Friday (my first visitor) and then we worked all day Saturday unpacking. Britt was a huge help (thanks). She did all my dishes while I dried and put away. I wouldn't have gotten as much done without her. :)

Saturday night I showered quickly and went to Kari's birthday celebration. I was completely exhausted, so I didn't stay out too late, and then Sunday I went to church with Shan and Jeff and then continued the unpacking. Shan and Jeff brought dinner over last night so Jeff could help me put my TV together and set up a few things around the house. Thanks for your help.

I still have a few things I have to move, and I have to paint my old room back to its original color. I also have to clean, so I have a lot of work to do before being "officially" moved. However, I am accepting visitors, so come on over anytime! I would love to show off my new place. Britt took pictures of moving, so I'll post those as soon as I get them!
